What I've Done (Part Two)

I've been knitting... Quite a bit - it helps me stay sane. Here are some of the items I've finished (yes, I did finish Tom's sweater, no, it was not on Valentines Day).

My favorite? Lacey's dress. I like it so much, I wrote you all a pattern for it which can be downloaded for free here.

I have wanted to knit my daughter a dress for a while, and based this dress of a commercially made item that is now in its second year of use due to the clever straps - crisscrossed the first year with a longer skirt and now straight in the second year with a shorter skirt. I wanted to design something that was lightweight, airy, cute, but completely wearable - for more than one year, hence The Two Summer Sundress.

The best part? Start to finish, it only took me about three hours. I am not a big-time sewing gal either. I honestly think that this could be done without a machine (although the machine would make it easier).

Really darling! How convenient that I have both that fabric and some perfect yarn sitting right here. Thanks for sharing!

Hi there--I just saw you dress this morning, and didn't know if you were aware of it's striking similarity to my friend Alice's Summerlin dress, released just a day before yours. Summerlin is available at KathrynIvy.com and your PDF instructions are very similar to Summerlin as well. If you were inspired by Alice's design, it might be a good idea to say that somewhere in the pattern or leave a note on your blog post. Certainly these things are bound to happen, but happening within 48 hours of each other is a bit unusual. Thanks so much!

Gosh, I had not seen it but they are similar, however still very different. She is much more talented than I in the sewing department! Thanks for pointing me to her site!
